Tile/Block sizes are all 290 height x 610mm, 490mm, 420mm and 245mm in length.
Most popular choice is random size courses which is a general selection of all the above, e.g. 49 sq metres of random sizes.
245mm length tiles are really only required if Rockface texture (due to the extra thickness) is used, as all with other textures the tiles can easily be cut down in length without having the joints proud as the thickness is reasonably uniform.
If courses are to be symmetrical the 610mm only or the 490mm only should be selected.
Corners are all 490mm x 245mm x 290mm
Quoins are all 420mm x 245mm x 290mm
If Random course is selected then a mixture of Corners and Quoins should be ordered. If single symmetrical bond course is ordered then only Corners should be ordered. Where corner blocks are to be in a different texture than the body of the house, regardless of symmetrical or random course bonding, e.g. Smooth textured corners with Rockface body, then Quoins only are suggested for the cornerstones. This also applies if you wish to pick out the window/door frames insofar of ordering a mix of reveal blocks at 420 x 100 x 290mm and 245 x 100x 290. Check with our office if you are unsure of these recommendations before ordering.
Where there are courses above windows and doors lintels are always recommended particularly if reveals exist as there are no wraparound lengthwise blocks. Lintels are usually set at 100mm to 150mm longer than the window /door width to create the original structural look.
Where large length lintels are required it is suggested to use a keystone in the middle of 2 smaller length lintels. |
